The Special Olympics Greater Manchester is an accredited delivery network of Special Olympics GB.

The network is a group of sports clubs & sessions working together to increase participation opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities across Greater Manchester.

What we do?

To facilitate access to year round inclusive training and competition for all people in Greater Manchester with an intellectual disability, through direct provision and partnerships with likeminded organisations. We facilitate the networking of clubs in the greater Manchester who offer sports sessions to people with an intellectual disability.

We want to be able to provide as many of our SO athletes the opportunity to participate, train, and compete in in a variety of sports and events/competitions.

Disability sport has increased his confidence and given him a community to be part of , as with his autism in addition to dyspraxia he finds it difficult to communicate, to make friends and to have a social life.
The disability sport sessions also provide structure to his week which helps reduce his anxiety. Some days the sessions are the only thing he will leave the house for as he is so overwhelmed with anxiety he is unable to get out and about as other young people of his age do naturally .
Invaluable!
